"Ancient Greece" did not have a direct democracy. Ancient Athens had a direct democracy for a few decades. Every other place and time in ancient Greece had various types of tyranny.

One thing that you’re leaving out is Alexander’s conquest of the Persian empire. His borders were much larger than Rome and that is a fact . His empire itself just didn’t take long to collapse after his death.

Greek or Roman, just as long I could be part of a row team propelling a warship into battle. Down in the ship where it smells so bad you would not detect a dead body. Thats where you’ll make friends for life. Everybody trying the best they can because you don’t wat to sink with a lock around your legs. Sounds like adventure. Relaxt boatride while havin someone playin drums all day. Awesome..

As much as I hate to cite this since my grandparents came from Sicily and Southern Italy, like most conquering ancient civilizations, prior to converting to Christianity, ancient Rome was a Fascist state like N Korea, China Russia Cuba Venezuela Iran Vietnam, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Belarus, and many many others.
