I'm with you on this. IRL you can't just drop down a factory or upgrade a house to a block building. Their is a lot of time that goes to building things and getting people to agree to move out of a house (the movie Up comes to mind). And of course, when building something, no one ever meets the deadline.

Yeah, i hope so too. By the sounds of it, it sounded more like it would be easier to see how to change and affect your city be improved visuals. It would be nice if it was still very complex, but easy and intuitive to control and manage your city and it`s wants and needs.

We can only hope it meets most of our expectations!

Is there going to be agriculture? I mean, will there be 'farmzones' as there are 'industrialzones'?

Can it be played in a long run? I mean, when you build a mega city, what to do then? ...

That's the most prudent and deserved question I've heard asked about this game so far. It's just not Simcity without the llamas...

is there any single palyer available or only multiplayer

There's still trade and resources to manage, if you look at all the videos you'll see that there's a lot more depth than people are giving it credit for. It's just simpler to feel because of the info-graph type system they're using. You can buy and sell commodities, setup industry, specialize etc. I feel like this is a good change, I've been playing SimCity since the first game. Can't wait.

I totaly agree, letting cities behave competitively will also help people not want to be corrupt. like if a person is purposefuly lining their borders with smog generating factories, natural inclination of the neighbors would to cease interaction with the city.

Alright, I can already see that SimCity engine will need significant processor resources, that I can manage, but what about the remaining system requirements?

THey talk about this on their website. Their simulation engine Glassbox is dersigned to handle 100s of thousands of simulation units with ease. Plus, how much power does one sim really take? Not much, and I think they'll run well on modern even low en d computers. They also, while their graphics look great, have relatively less intense graphics than most games. There aren't as many lighting/post processing effects, reflections, etc. that other games have

I have a feeling this will be a little more like a cross between SC4 and SC Societies!! Where you can create your own type of city but those small cities are just small areas of the actuall whole world the whole city as was in SC4 which is your metropolis!

I was under the impression that terraforming and subway stations WERE in the game - i remember a video somewhere that showed someone adding oil/coal (can't remember which) under their city, and there were several forms of mass transit available in a recent gameplay video.

But say that they are a major oil supplier. Where will you get your oil from? You would have to re-specialize or a friend would have to.

I agree I always liked how the other ones were single player but i hope this multiplayer thing doesn't make the game suck.

It sure is, ill be getting the game either way probably. The engine and simulation seems great, we'll just have to keep our hopes up that the map wont be as small at it seems.

I believe this is just a visual representation. I'm pretty sure these things will take time to build in the game. From the gameplay footage, even houses in a residential area took time to be finished, so I suspect the game will happen. Powerplants on the other hand, have always been built instantly. I wonder if that will change. Players would probably find it annoying if they had no power but had to wait 30 minutes to get power at all due to construction time.

They replied that Terraforming would screw with the Glass box. I don't know about sub ways but it could be added on later

Thats one thing that really has me worried. I've also heard that the zone density is linked to the road size and traffic density... I'm not a big fan of that if it's true.

yea they do look small but that's one city in one region i heard you can have like 7 cities in one region but that is possibly true you can probably make them bigger than than where the high comes in from

you have to remember that they are giving you an inside look at development, so you are probably only going to see the simple, basics working. Im sure that in 4 months they will have some more complexity to it.
