Singapore Airlines flight SQ 321 from London to Singapore made an emergency landing in Bangkok on May 21 after it encountered severe turbulence over the Andaman Sea.

Can I make a public proposal? Lots of people think it's uncool to wear seatbelts, so to make it cool again, how about we think of a way to mechanically/electronically link the searbelt to the entertainment system? Not buckled, no movie for you buddy. It'll cost a bit of money to retro fit every passenger seat in the world, but it's all in the name of safety.

I believe some of the severe injuries were air stewardess themselves as they are serving food during a sudden turbulence.

As for those who thinks wearing seat belt is uncool, them be. Once they feel the wrath of air turbulence, they will never fly again.

Death and injury will not have happens if the passengers are strap down by the seat belt at all time during the flight.

terribly sad.... this aircraft has only 2 engines.... perhaps it would not have dropped 6, 000 feet if the aircraft had 4 engines and the turbulence drops are ALL VERY SUDDEN DROPS .... MOSTLY UNPREDICTABLE !!! BUT if the Aircraft had 4 engines, the power and thrust of the 4 engines could have prevented a 6, 000 foot sadly these days, they like to design aeroplanes with SKINNY WINGS which do not have much lift and to make matters worse, they install only 2 it is not surprising that in Turbulence, the aircraft may drop 6, 000 feet !!!! but they want to have SKINNY WINGS and LESSER ENGINES to be more Fuel Efficient.... after all ....they all fly at 45, 000 and a 6, 000 foot drop is just a fraction of the height that you fall in the Boeing 747 days... you seldom hear of Turbulence Dropping over 800 feet !!!!
