John Santucci who played sgt urizzi was a real thief. He lended his expertise to the safe cracking scene. Tangerine Dream’s soundtrack made the film for me.

"El Dorado, " "Rabbit, Run, " "The Godfather, " "Slither, " "Cinderella Liberty, " "The Gambler, " "Freebie and the Bean, " "Godfather, Part II, " "Rollerball, " "Funny Lady, " "Silent Movie, " "Comes A Horseman, " "Hide in Plain Sight, " "A Bridge Too Far, " and "Theif."
If Caan never made another movie after a run like that, he'd still be one of the greatest. 'Cept he went ahead and made about 80 more films, many also very fine, including "Chapter Two, " "For the Boys, " "City of Ghosts, " "Misery, " and "Bottle Rocket." Unbelievable achievement!

I absolutely love this movie and I love James Caan been a big fan of Caan's since the Gale Sayer and Godfather days I actually saw Thief at the Sheraton hotel where I'd work now I'm outdating myself when I tell you that I saw the movie in the hotel room closed circuit tv back in 81 lol
