I would have to say the South Tower of the original Twin Towers is still the best as it had the highest outdoor observation deck out of any of the observation decks in New York today. But of the five that exist today, I would have to go with One World Trade Center & The Edge as my favorites.

The edge is a outdoor deck but you can still look at it indoors

We LOVED One World Observatory. The kid wanted to be there BECAUSE it was that particular spot, and its meaning.
But totally agreed on the best for family and for a date night. Would definitely take AnonyMommy there. You've GOT to see the Empire State Building to have the best view.

The one we've done so far is the One World Observatory. AMAZING at night.
Not having been to the others, I think I'd pick Top of the Rock between them, though. I feel like I'd WANT a view of the Empire State Building as part of my view, not looking from the top of it.
