Rich Chambers - Fortunate Son (Official Music Video)

Показать описание
I have always felt that CCR's "Fortunate Son" is quite simply one of the best pure rock n' roll songs ever written. It's short and straightforward with a solid foundation of simple yet driving bass and drums, which are topped off by distorted guitars and John Fogerty's distinct, gravel-laced voice. Add in that it is arguably one of the best war protest songs in existence and you have rock n' roll in all its glory!
I have tried my best to keep my version true to the original. The guitar dominates, and I definitely give my voice a workout as I attempt to pay homage to a master songwriter. It was also important to me to show the antiwar sentiment of the song in the video. We do not have the Vietnam War as a real part of our everyday social fabric as Fogerty did when he wrote this, but war is war, and I think it is important to always keep its heartbreak and atrocities within our consciousness, hence a big reason why I am covering this song. To forget is dangerous! --RC

Lyrics:
Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Oh, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief"
Oh, they point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, Lord?
But when the taxman comes to the door
Lord, the house lookin' like a rummage sale, yeah
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Yeah-yeah, some folks inherit star-spangled eyes
Oh, they send you down to war
And when you ask 'em, "How much should we give?"
Oh, they only answer, "More, more, more, more"
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son, son, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, one
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son, no, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me...
