If it's physical modelling, it is a virtual piano!! Definitely more of a virtual piano than a sample library.

Everyone’s been hearing about this VST for 20 years….

should also mention it's only a few megabytes versus dozens of gigabytes for sampled pianos

Its my favourite sounding piano. Just that. Whoever doesn’t care whether it’s physical modeling or samples, I still say it’s the best sounding piano

Very good Piano VSTs can allow you to do similar results And all you need to do is know a little bit of sound engineering on top of that to shape those samples anywhere you want. It’s a cool thing to have but it is not necessarily GameChanger

you know what sounds incredibly similar to a piano? A piano

I actually use this all the time. It's great

I have a piano synth that sampled a real concert grand Kawai piano. I absolutely love it

It's stunning, own it already and not using sample libraries for piano anymore.

Oliver Buckland uses Pianoteq to great effect.

I have it but I must say that Keyscape is still my go to Piano VST. Still better sound!

Interesting, but there's something about someone holding a SM7B with their hands that makes me anxious 😂

I remember, I remember certain things
When I was wearing the yellow dashes in the streets
I prayed those lights would take me home
Than I heard "Hey kid, get out of the road!"
Foi o momento que eu desabei. As palavras que são o motivo de eu ainda estar aqui, de eu ainda querer estar aqui. É a representação de tudo que essas 4 listras são pra mim ||-//: a minha casa.

I mean, isn't this what synths have been toying with since the 70s? We just got a lot better at it now.

Nothing beats NI's The Gentleman. Even Pianoteq, no matter how I tried to like it.

That first sound played at the end reminded me of omori

I first used Pianoteq years ago because I remember Avicii used it.

I've made a pritty usable piano sound on Serum. It took me a few gose. But it pritty good. Alot of the modulation is done with the velocity. Including the wave table the envelope shape the reverb length and of course the osc volume. I've compared that to multi-samples. And it's pretty good for about 5 octaves. It sounds a bit synth on the lower octaves. But i haven't finished tweaking it yet. I'm on my 6th version. I save them for comparison. I have also made a pretty good plucked double bass. And some natural sounding string section. On that you can adust the style of playing. From sustain to staccato to a pluck, all on the macros. So it's my best attempt at making natural sounds. I'm trying to make orchestral sounds. Also church organ is pritty easy. I'm not happy with my attempts at brass sounds though. But I haven't had a good go at that yet!
Honestly, I don't think there is a sound that is impossible on Serum. You just need to build the right wave table and understand the limits of what can modulate what. The OG is still my go to.

Arturia do something similar with modelling. Pianoteq was first though.

Most digital pianos and keyboards in the last decade use sound modelling rather than playing back recorded samples. The latter sounds okay for 1 note at a time, but awful after that. VI Labs has a "Ravenscroft 275" which I particularly like.
