Hi,
today I show you a Lego Technic mechanism that converts any motor into a stepper or servo motor (For example useful for steering).
Enjoy watching,

improvements for the stepper:
remove 3 length beam with 5 length beam
adding 2l pin with stop brushes with a 2 length axle.
remove the stepper mechanism with a 2l beam.
replace with 5l axle with a stop for first and final gear stage
replace the cam, remove remaining 2 pieces for improvement, and add 2 1 x 2 beam thins for the stepper for 1 rotation per step.

Sadly you didn't post it 2 years ago, now I'm addicted to the servo😅😂

2:06 - nice stepper mechanism (very compact)

I can’t even comprehend the god level of thinking that goes into these creations!

Great Video!
2nd mechanism: A servo motor is one with feedback to control the position.
3rd: That's a Geneva Drive with an alternative holding mechanism.

Some really cool designs in this vid! Nice work!!

Everytime more sophisticated! Or as we say „abgefahren“ ;-)

Not really a stepper or servo. A servo would have a closed loop so that it could hit a precise angle; it's more than just turning a bit to one side or the other. A stepper would have the ability to move any given number of steps (not continuously going), and it would have a significant holding torque once it reached it's destination. These mechanisms are cool, but this is still just a DC motor with some interesting motion limiting linkages attached

Just when I needed a stepper mechanism...

this is just amazing thanks you very much

Can it really be called a servo if you can't set it to arbitrary positions?

Great designs but the 2nd is better in off roaders without the returning to the middle 👍

You've not made a servo motor. You've made a motor attached to a two-position actuator.
There's no feedback or drive going to the motor for to correct it's position.

The stepper motor is much closer, but still not a stepper motor.

I'm gonna use this to turn my m motor into an servo for automatic transmission

with all the stuff you used which includes a motor and lots of pieces you could have easily bought a regular servo motor

"Out of any motor"
So I can use a servo to make a servo?

most cheap rc cars use a system similar to the one you showed that's bad for the motor to steer

I wonder if this is how real servos work? 🤔
