Neo Geo Omega Console: Returned, Tested, & Opened

After a lengthy wait, my Neo Geo Omega console finally came home. Was it worth the wait? Is the component video working? What Unibios version do I have? Was anything else done to the motherboard? Let's cross our fingers and take a quick look.

A nice way to play all those classic MVS games! Nice to hear its up and running properly for you, I know these consoles aren't cheap, so expectations should be high. I'd like to eventually get my hands on one of these, given the time comes I can actually afford it.

I really liked the video. Great production values.
I ordered 1 of these with the component cable about a week ago. The website says 4 weeks for delivery. I have heard it's more like 7 weeks. How long was your initial wait (if you remember)?
I already have a cbox and a MiSTer with the Neo Geo core, so I'm not in a huge rush, but I wanted the virtual memory card functionality that the omega offers.
The cbox is fantastic but it took a little bit of work to make it that way. I did the battery mod and then I had to install some resistors between the stereo mod and the amplifier that Time Harvest is using. The resistors are used to reduce the volume going into the amp. That got rid of the audio distortion.
The standard component out is kinda dull but the RGB from the 8 pin din is quite good.
For the money, I'm betting the cbox is better, but you have to be willing to get your hands dirty.
The MiSTer is great but it's not perfect.

Bad customer service just get a cmvs from jnx of course he is booked till june/july but it might be worth the wait at least from all the positive reviews ive heard. I would check the caps on that board as i heard arcade works doesnt replace them. Just a thought cuz if those are the original caps then who knows how long they will last.

Why wouldn't a dead AES serve as a case for the MVS board? I'm pretty sure with a little work it would fit perfectly, and it would be about $200 cheaper.

Considering the Omega is 2x+ as much as a CBOX, it's BS that the cart flaps were so cheaply assembled.
For near $600 USD, I'd expect damn near perfection and original components.
For what the cbox costs, they seem better made. I could care less about original PCB components at this price point, as long as it works as intended and assembled decently.
