Dave is excited to find the "Apizza" at Vincitori, but does it live up to the New Haven name?

I had this pizza a few days before Pres went. I talked to the chef. They do a 2 day cold ferment for dough and cook it in an oven at 750F. It’s crispy and chewy, bright red sauce, great amount of sauce to cheese. Highly recommend it. It’s my second favorite pie in Connecticut, second only to Sally’s

Same time, same place. I can always count on a new review right after work.

That pizza looks incredible, Scott doesn't grab that glorious bubble slice per usual, everyone knows the rules.

One 7.6 that was definitely a 7.8 but Dave got offended by it being called Apizza.

My father from Italy used the term “Apizza” he’s never been to New Haven Connecticut ! Apizza is a dialect of Southern Italian that means "the pizza". It's pronounced "ah-beetz" and comes from the Italian phrase la'pizza (the pizza). In spoken dialect, the "L" is often skipped or eaten, so the word for pizza is Pizza, not Apizza. In dialect, the word would be written " 'a pizza ", and the apostrophe would mean the "L" that is not pronounced. Neapolitans also tend to stay on the "a" for some time when they pronounce these words, so it could also be written in a more phonetic form, “ 'aa pizza

One bite everybody knows Dave is more baked than the cookie.

The origin of the name "A pizza" is how Neapolitans / southern Italians call "La pizza" (they drop the "L"), meaning "the pizza". It isn't a specifica pizza style, it's how some old pizza makers from Italy called it there and used it as part of their store name, and it stuck. Never tire of your videos.

Never before has a pizza thumbnail picture looked more like the official archetypal one bite intro pizza picture.

Moving back to CT soon. Can’t wait. Some of the best pizza I’ve come across is from that state. Whole tri-state area is great!

In this exact building was one of my favorite pizza places of all time called Eleni's Restaurant! it’s been gone for more than four years now and every time I drive by this new place I get sad.

Recovery Room in New London. Best pizza crust ever, and the pie itself is at least an 8.5.

Go to OCEAN PIZZA in New London. Also, VALENTINO'S in Ledyard. Ocean Pizza is Greek style that will bring tears to your eyes. Valentino's is a NY style Napolitano that will make you feel like you're back in NYC. You're welcome.

Glad you liked the pizza. It's a little better than Mystic pizza. I had Angie's pizza in Mystic, CT Off of Dennison and Rosevelt (intersection of 27 and 1) some years back (5? 10?). I thought it was the best in the area. Angie's and the Plum Tomato in East Lyme (might have changed names and owners from "Yummy Yummy" pizza?). It's near the intersection of rte 1 and 181 heading 200 feet? north at the intersection. Those 2 use to be the best pizza spots in the area, I thought. Had rooms comped at Foxwoods during the winter. Went to all the pizza places in the area. These are the ones I remember. Happy pizza hunting! (Nothing like local breakfast potatoes in the diners / breakfast restaurants in the area too. "The Shack" south of 1 and 181.))
