Think you know Subway? Think again! The franchise has been around for decades, and chances are most people you know have a go-to order from the beloved fast food sandwich chain. But, while Subway enjoyed a great deal of success since its inception, things have sadly changed — and some shocking nutritional facts have come out over the last few years that may partly explain exactly why the sammie staple is starting to see a dip in sales. One of the most surprising reveals centers around a sandwich that might just be your (former) favorite Subway order. Join us as we take an in-depth look at why you should think twice before ordering Subway's Italian B.M.T.

Subway hits the spot when needed. It's one of the few chains that remains consistent.

I don't eat Subway's B.M.T. for nutrition but for taste.

If I’m desperate enough to go to Subway I only ever get the BMT !

Salt and saturated fats, literally the two things we need more of. Though there's probably a bunch of other things in it that make it unhealthy but those are the two dumbest reasons to call something unhealthy

Yes, because I go to fast food restaurants for their "nutritional values"!

I recommend ultimate bmt, with pepper jack, capacolla, peppercorn ranch, mayo, onion, jalapeños, vinegar, lettuce

Well, the 6 inch bmt on Italian cheese bread with provolone, spinach, tomatoes, black olives, banana peppers, pickles and Chipotle sauce is my go- to on the rare occasion I eat Subway. My fave, oh well.

Here in the UK we have the Pizziola B.M.T and it's amazing.

After decades of eating at Subway, I had my LAST Subway sandwich in 2021. I was shocked by the price. Ten dollars for a footlong for mediocre quality. I would rather pay a dollar or two more for a quality sub like Jimmy Johns or Penn station.

I love Subway... my lunch order: 6" Subway Club on whole wheat, w/double meat, provolone cheese, spinach, lettuce, onions, green peppers, pickles, a dash of oil, Lays Classic chips, and ice water. My breakfast order: Egg whites on flat bread, w/pepper jack cheese, spinach, green peppers, onions, toasted extra long, and coffee. Both are totally yum-city!! I've ate Subway regularly for 17+ years in cities all across the US -- east to west / north to south and I have experienced one time where the whole wheat bread was stale and one time my toasted breakfast was cold, otherwise, I've enjoyed - and continue to look forward to - each time I eat at Subway. I've tried Jimmy John's and Jersey Mike's and still continue to come back to Subway - they're absolutely consistently delicious over 17+ years! PLUS: after I eat I NEVER feel tired or sick-to-my-stomach unlike eating at other fast food providers... if Subway does go under for some reason, I would put the blame squarely on its corporate upper management and potentially a few careless franchise owners, but my experience is the majority of franchise owners take seriously their service, freshness, and quality of their food service, as well as cleanliness of their prep-area, store, and bathrooms.

Living in the Boston area, I would never darken the door of a Subway shop. There is no excuse to go there. There are far too many authentic Italian and Greek family owned sandwich shops, to justify it. And the same goes for Providence, NYC, Philadelphia, and Chicago. Even if Subway was the only game in town, you'd be far better off going to a supermarket deli, buy your own fixings, and make your own sandwich.
