Using art to raise awareness of the digital divide

Working with four artists from some of the countries most affected by the digital divide – Ghana, Kenya and South Africa – we asked them to illustrate how smartphones have transformed their local communities, and why access to them is crucial for creating a fairer, more sustainable society.

Leveraging the influence of art, we hope to get people talking about the growing digital divide in support of the conversations taking place at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.

Raising awareness of current digital injustice, we can work together to close the digital access gap and give everyone equal opportunity to thrive.
