G5 has better blacks off angle, more resistant to lifted blacks and a 5 year warranty.

One benefit. It actually works. Unlike pretty much every Samsung I've ever tried....

The LG G5 isn't "inferior" to QD OLED when it comes to burn-in, LOL.

G5 clearly already taken first place this year. Amazing upgrades to the g4

if the LG G5 comes close enough it will be suffice. Even though G4 was clearly worse, it still could hold its own, a picture is more than just measurements. the processing is very important.

LG G4 covers 74% rec2020
LG G5 covers 83% rec2020
Samsung S95D covers 90% rec2020

For me it’s several personally important reasons:
1. It is my opinion that the LG tv has better software which
2. I have heard that Samsung TVs have issues with eARC that the LG TVs don’t
3. The LG glossy anti glare coating is much better suited for my room lighting.
If samsung had a separate variant of their tv with a glossy anti glare coating they would give the G5 a serious run for its money for consumers like me. On the other hand, the product differentiation will take away a lot of customers from LG who aren’t like me😂

Here’s the real issue, Quantum, and I’d be curious to hear your take because reviewers almost never bring this up.

360 nits full-field brightness is still pathetic—plain and simple. 2500 nits in a 10% window sounds great, but specular highlights have never been OLED’s problem. OLED has been handling those beautifully for years. The real issue is full-field brightness and brightness stability, both of which are abysmal and will still be abysmal on the G5.

That 2500-nit number might sound impressive, but most people don’t realize it only applies when just 10% of the screen is lit up. The second a scene demands moderate brightness over a larger area, ABL (Automatic Brightness Limiter) kicks in and completely tanks the experience. The G5 is not a bright OLED, and its brightness will be all over the place—fluctuating wildly between that weak 360-nit full-field brightness and the momentary 2500-nit highlights.

This is OLED’s Achilles’ heel, and because of it, you lose a massive chunk of the HDR experience.

Take Gravity (2013), for example. The scene where Sandra Bullock is floating through space with Earth filling the background should be a breathtaking HDR showcase—blinding sunlight, deep blacks, and a vibrant, glowing planet. But on an OLED, ABL kicks in hard, crushing the brightness of the Earth and dimming the entire scene, leaving it looking dull and lifeless instead of the stunning, high-contrast spectacle it should be. You completely lose the intended impact, and this happens in every bright, expansive scene where the screen needs to maintain high brightness across a large area. You are missing out on 50% of what HDR truly has to offer on OLED and you really cannot deny this. I find it very strange that this aspect is never talked about. Don't delete my comment because you personally don't like it 😊- I know you love QD-OLED.

What's your opinion on the potential future of qdel display technology.

What I’m confused about is that the TV hasn’t been officially released yet, and many people are saying that LG won the 2025 Best

Honestly, I like LG, and a G5 would be a fine upgrade to my Hisense U7HQ. But I would much rather get a successor to S95/90D

None of that matters if they can't produce 83 inch.

I’m just gonna wait another month or 2 and get the G4 with its 5 year warranty and what they actually built up to finally “wow” me, especially in HDR content. Why would they invest in the MLA technology that is their own over the years, just to abandon it when it finally delivered a perfect even balance with the new processor. That’s the only jump in the G lineup where I’d actually upgrade if someone had the G3. G5 was very underwhelming when showing off the new rgb panels. I’ll save more than half off on a 65 G4 and I only game in dim to a very dark smaller theater room. There’s a reason they wouldn’t put it next to the G4 in comparison for 2025. It’s always the B series.

I have the S95C for gaming and movies. I won't buy a new TV before HDMI 2.2 comes out.
