An #automated model railroad layout ideal to use for trams, streetcars, trolleys, and metro railways running on a single track with distinct endpoints. The train moves back and forth between two stations, trying best to match realistic operation.

While using a microcontroller without any sensors does simplify the wiring, it also results in a VERY "fix it in software" implementation. It only allows for one train to operate and the amount of time spent running has to be adjusted with every single change to the train you're running. Even adding an additional car can reduce the amount of distance the train travels in a particular amount of time.

I'm intrigued by this. I've never used Arduinos before, but I want to try. I've been thinking about building a point-to-point layout, but I don't want the tram to stop abruptly. I'd love it if it sped up and slowed down like this.
