Was LEGO's BrickLink Series 7 Rigged?

The 5 winners of BrickLink Series 7 have been announced ahead of crowdfunding in February 2026. But what do you think of what's been picked, and which - if any - will you try to buy? WALT is EXACTLY what Lego would produce themselves it’s so their style of “play” and customization with the face. Why on earth is a brick link designer spot wasted on it.

As a castle fan, I liked the alchemist house because it pairs well with the blacksmith set and more buildings to add to a mid-evil city/ land

Not everyone is interested in castle, pirates and medieval, I know I’m not, and I don’t mind that they often select these sets as I know many of you are into them in a big way. I find the out of the box choices a little refreshing, however none of them appeal to me. In fact I don’t even remember seeing them when I was voting (robot and antique collection) as I was looking for food/ shop related sets. I guess many of us have different preferences and maybe Lego is trying to accommodate that. I do think the Endurance sales were better than expected and maybe that’s why they are going with more ships. Maybe they choose things because they have ideas for themes or sets themselves and are testing the market. Great as always Stud-Lord😊

This series feels like BLDP tipped the scales and lowered the weighting on crowd voting when selecting.

Sushi restaurant and Frigate make perfect sense. The alchemy shop was a decent medieval themed pick, but there better medieval submissions including better alchemy shops in the series.

Robot and furniture set make no sense, and won't sell well. Wasted slots that could have been given to sets with more broad appeal.

Fortuna and Sushi Restaurant are both overdue and well deserving. Will be getting both of those. I was really shocked that they chose the Fortuna for the same reason you pointed out.

Alchemist - if I had money left over I will but I prefer sleepless nights version. That would have been an instant buy

Robot - not for me

Furniture - I think this might be the first set in BDP that will not hit the 3K minimum required

I don't think it's necessary fixed but I'm convinced the fan votes do NOT count nearly as much as one would believe. I think it's there to give the impression that the fans have a say. At the end, the BDP team will have the final and ultimate say.

Tbf not for one second have I ever thought that the 5 selected sets were the 5 that received the most votes, for any series. So in that sense yeah it's rigged

This latest round in junk. You could tell they put their finger on the scales. How about letting the fans who want to buy the sets choose them.

I would encourage everyone here to read the FAQ on the Bricklink Designer Program website, watch some helpful videos, and do the slightest bit of research before claiming it's "rigged" just because the set you wanted didn't win! It pains me that seemingly most people don't do an ounce of research into how things actually work and immediately pull out the pitch forks. I will say, I was on your shoes at one point with Series 4, but I did the research so I hope many of you can learn from what I have learned.

(p.s. stud-lord, this is nothing against your video! I probably would have used the a similar title had I the time to make a video for this Series 😅💯)

Two things that the BDP needs to do going forward in series 7 or 8: (1) No more of this "I love it", "it's good" and "I don't like it" type of voting - you either vote for it or you don't. Black and White. 1 and 0. The five designs with the most votes get produced and no more of this guessing with what LEGO thinks we'd like. That's what Ideas is for. (2) and most importantly: RELEASE THE RESULTS. Show the numbers for who voted for what. What was popular? What wasn't? There needs to be transparency so that the community and designers can get an idea of what people are looking for and what they aren't.

I'm one of the ones who voted for the the little robot and am happy it got selected. (A bit surprised, honestly, but quite happy). I plan to purchase it when the time comes.
The biggest issue I have with the BDP is bloat - way too many submissions made it hard to sort through them all. Over twice as many in series 7 as there had been in series 6! Multiple designers submitted 3, 4, or even 5 designs apiece! That's ridiculous. I wish Lego would limit it to one (or maybe two) submissions per designer per series.

The robot and cabinet sets are awful picks. They will both sell horribly. What a waste.

Not going to purchase any of these. The Sushi restaurant is really nice, but it'll be a high price point and honestly I think the reason why Lego has not chosen sets like this is because all of the knockoff brands have a TON of designs of Asian style buildings and they all end up looking similar. Perhaps I'm just fatigued. I'm sure it'll sell out as it has a lot of cross-over appeal. The Fortuna is nice too but again, huge piece count and I don't think I can justify another standalone display piece like it. The other 3 I'm not a huge fan of.

If the Alchemist Shop doesn't keep the potion bottle on the roof in the final design, I think its going to be a lot less popular. The shop itself looks like something that would be at home in any number of fantasy role-playing games...
