Should also be mentioned: All helmets produced in the U.S. have to meet the same safety minimum no matter what. Even a cheap helmet can save you life/keep you from turning into a veggie. However, most higher end helmets ($80 and up) have a technology called MIPS. It’s essentially a plastic liner that allows the helmet to move a little, essentially has a little give so that if you fall and the helmet is twisted in any way it won’t be as harsh on your neck

Fun fact, when you have a head Callison you are supposed to replace the helmet. No this is not to scam to make the helmet companies to earn more money, it is because the foam breakes

Helmets are meant to break to spread the impact on a wider surface when falling so them breaking is a good thing so that the impact doesn’t get carried over to the skull

hey just btw, the safety protection of these helmets go away after one impact, so you would need to buy new helmets for every single test for a truly accurate test

Never cheap out on safety gear but it’s a pain in the ass to replace after you use it to its fullest. (Heavy impacts which destroys the padding.)

always remember that after a major impact you are meant to replace your helmet because it is designed to absorb the impact and the pads inside become less effective
