Just dropping you a line to say you never know who is watching your videos. My dad has been in nursing home the last 2 years and he was barely healthy enough just to watch YouTube and send a text. I told him I started fishing again this spring and he told me to go watch your video on cleaning fish. Dad just died and I’m here to say thank you for the hard work it takes to put videos out to the public, especially those who loved fishing, like my dad, but are unable to do such great things like we still get to do.

I’m turning 17 in a few days and I finally got my fishing license. Nobody in my family really fishes besides my cousins who live far away so these vids are very helpful!

North Carolina here. Glad to hear someone on YouTube who says crappie instead of croppie.

My poppa always cut their heads off and gutted them, but my wife and kids dont like eating panfish that way, so we dont eat fish often. Came here for some info about fileting panfish, and found a goldmine. Poppa was from southeastern North "Cackalacky, " and his accent was so similar to yours that this was almost like listening to him teach me how to filet panfish. Only thing missing was him saying, "now look here boy" about 30 times in 10 mins, 😂. We lost him in the fall of 2000, and I still miss him, but this vid just reminds me of fishing trips with him, especially his last where the heat got to him and as we were leaving, we got into a school of Crappie (crap-ee is the right way to say it too, lol), and he told us to stay a while more and we all (me, my dad, and him) caught our limit of huge Crappie. Had a HUGE fishfry that weekend! 150 fish!

Thanks for posting this, sir! Both for the education and sparking one of my most cherished memories.

Boy this accent got me nostalgic. I moved out of Louisiana when I was 14 and I miss the hell out of it sometimes

Been fishing cleaning and eating fish for 55 + years and the way you cleaned the little one is how I always did it. No wasted meat when you fry them, open up the 2 sides and easily pull out the bones.

It is such a pleasure to see a fellow South Carolinian talk about crappie and Lake Monticello. I fished there 45 years ago at night with my Dad's best friend. We caught tons of crappie over those years. I know the lake pretty well . We spent many nights there. I usually just scale and gut my crappie. I fish Lake Robinson now only because I live in Spartanburg. I have a bunch of crappy waiting on me now I'm going to try your way and hope I do it justice. Thanks!

My deceased Dad said that if you don't like crappies, you most likely just don't like fish. Dad was right on track. I ate those at a fish fry. Delectable to say the least. Went absolutely well with the baked beans I brought to the feast.

I turned 18 a while ago, about to be 19 and I never really did fishing and such when I was younger, and this summer I’m
Preparing to go on a 2-month-long trip up to the mountains in my area. Of course, on this vacation I’ll have to fish for food! I have no clue how to do this stuff and I just want to say, man, your videos are so easy to digest for me, they’re very comforting as if my own gramps sent me a video. Thank you for passing your skills onto me, I really appreciate it! Now I’ll know how to eat!

Love your videos Sir! there is a lot of passion, pride, and hard work as you put these together. I am just getting into crappie fishing and love these tutorials. I am going to take my 12 and 15 yrs old daughters fishing in couple of weeks and hope that i land few, don't need the limit just enough so i can keep them entertained and away from electronics:) Once again, thanks for the invaluable information you share and the passion shows.

I really appreciate you showing your way of cleaning crappie. I have cleaned fish all my life, and I am still learning something new. Your technique for removing the dorsal, and anal fins is something I will be using from now on. Thank you again, take care, and good fishing.

Nice video. I like the part with the short story about the neighbor who "comes around twice a day; once to aggravate and again for supper"!
