LTSpice - Importing a New Component Model for Simulation

Here's 2 ways I go about importing a SPICE model downloaded from a manufacturer for more accurate simulations if I want to see how a specific part performs.

Using an op amp as an example, we can see how the ideal op amp compares to an LM358 model.

One import method uses the .lib directive to include the model and then just assign it to the existing op amp schematic symbol for the generic op amp.

The other method is to have LTSpice auto-generate a schematic symbol that can be dropped into the schematic if there are no suitable symbols already available. This is useful for unique parts like obscure ICs.

Equipment I regularly use (support the channel by shopping through these affiliate links - I may earn a small commission and it doesn't cost you extra):

Thanks for the video, I'm sure I would never have got the LM358 in LTspice on my own.

Thanks for this video, it was helpful and cleared up some confusion about how to import symbol parameters into a file!

Thank you! I was able to follow along and get it to work with both methods!

very nice video. the ad202kn analog devices isolation amp is not in Ltspice so your video will be very helpful. thanks a lot.

Being new to downloading models, I'm trying to find the simple 1 - 2 - 3 steps on how to download a model from a manufacturer. At 2:14 you show that there are models at the manufacturer, then at 2:37 you suddenly have these files in your LTspice folders. I tried the same thing but when I run the simulation LTspice gives me a message, "can't find files". Can you please show HOW to get these files into the correct location instead of saying, "you can download these files"? Yes, we all know that we "can" download these files. We want to know HOW.

Why sometimes LTSpice simulations very slow, maybe you know how to speed up the simulations?
