Hi I am got my vintage Craftsman Table Saw from 1950 and in process of restoration. So here you can see how I removed Rust from cast iron tabletop using WD-40 and vinegar and then protect it with Johnson paste fax.

Sadly, all the "elbow grease" in the world won't allow me to get my 113 saw that beautiful 😞 It's a late 1980s saw, and the machining on the table top is far inferior to what you started with. The circular grinding marks from the factory machining are clearly visible on mine.

To show how the quality of the manufacturing diminished in the intervening years from your '50 saw to my '88 saw, your "before" top is even better than what I could ever hope to get.

Vinegar is a chemical reaction and requires time rather than elbow grease.
