Your video came just in time. The contents have been around for a while but having a video step by step showed why it didn't work for me before. I made the mistake of adding the "init=/bin/sh" in a new line when it should come immediately after "rootwait". Thanks!

Thank you soooo much! Everywhere else I looked simply listed adding the init=/bin/sh and nothing else, didn't work for me and the remount they gave always came back with "couldn't find PIUU...). Following your layout worked for me.

Got it wrong. Mine was: "dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 console=serial0, 115200 console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p7 rootfstype=ext4 elevator=deadline fsck.repair=yes rootwait splash What is that "ignore serial consoles"???

If it says stuff after rootwait already, do I have to delete it to get the command to work or is it fine to ignore it?
It says "splash quiet" after rootwait.

In case you are not able to mount the device, you can add rw as well to the textfile cmdfile. This will boot with read write access instead of only read only.
