Sexteto Habanero-(Bururú Barará) Como Esta Miguel

The Sexteto Habanero was a famous Cuban musical group which was founded in 1920. It played an important part in the early history of the son. It was in the beginning of the 20th century, three Cuban musicians formed Trio Oriental to perform the folk music that hailed from the west of the island. The trio later added members, changed their name to Sexteto Habañero, and became the first and most influential performers of son, a vivid Afro-Spanish fusion of musical styles. Son consists of two stylistic levels. The first level (African in origin) is a rumba rhythm over which a variety of percussionists improvise. The second level (deriving from Spain) is provided by a combination of three string guitars known as tres and a makeshift bass. Spanish lyrics are sung over the instruments in traditional decima form with rhymed octosyllabic lines. During the 1920s, Sexteto Habañero were the definitive son band of cuba.

yo soy dominicano, mi papa nacio en el 1909 tambien en R.D.y llego a new york en el 1927 asta el 47 regreso a santo domingo entonces naci yo en el 1965 el mas pequeño de 6 hermanos el tenia 56 años y mi mama 44 cuando yo naci y yo naci y creci oyendo esta musica todos los fines de semana el ponia sus longplays, el sexteto habanero el jilguero de cien fuegos, ignacio piñeiro, trio matamoro recuerdo que tenia longplays grade mediano y pequeños, hermosos recuerdos aquellos la decada de los70, tengo 54 años y todavia guardo todos estos longplays.

"Como esta Miguel?" Tambien noten el muy desarrollado y riquisimo "martillo" de "Montoto", el bongosero. Imaginense que en Octubre y Noviembre del ano 1927 por las calles de Manhattan caminaron 20 soneros grabando y forjando el glorioso "Son" Cubano: los Sextetos Habanero, Nacional y Enriso.

Que linda y hermosa canción, muchos interpretes y conjuntos, lo han adecuado a su estilo, pero yo me quedo con está melodía, es única, recuerdo a uno de ellos mencionar el bururú barará (el cubano Roberto Torres) viva Cuba y su música del ayer, como decía un antiguo slogan, el resto es silencio, un abrazo.

N-o-t-h-i-n-g compares to 1930's cuban (rumba or not)..that distinctly slow-but-sweeeet sound that so quintessentially cuban, hats off to you for posting a few of the early cuban tracks. Will you be posting any more 1930s cuban ? Most of the familier tracks ive played to death, but i keep hoping there are some rare casino bands from that era, i've not heard of ;)
