MF/HF Radio repair: Furuno FS 2575

Model- Furuno : FS 2575

• Confirmed the fault, communication error display lightning/thunder strike, Antenna coupler is severe burnt & feeder cable also damage.
• During inspection found grounding plate of Antenna coupler is not fitted, grounding plate was rolled and kept aside, never fitted to antenna coupler.
• Removed the burnt coupler & Installed new antenna coupler AT-5075
• Fixed the copper grounding plate, bring down the MF/HF antenna with the help of crew & replaced the feeder wire, cleaned the contact points & secured with silicon sealant. Lift up the MF/HF antenna again.
• Switch on the MF/HF and found still communication error appears, suspected problem with MOT board, installed new MOT board 05P0860 , switch on the MF/HF, Now MF/HF doesn’t display communication error. program the MMSI number and necessary settings
• Carried out Self-test, other parameters shows ok but coupler shows NG, Tune NG all bands.
• Short the Tune & Tune ok terminal at T-IF board, now tune shows ok, as per manual problem is ATU side,
• Checked the Coupler self test ok, checked continuity of control cable & RF cable found ok, coupler unit is new, grounding is new, feeder wire is new.
• Installed new T-CPU pcb 05P0859 but negative result, installed back the original T-CPU pcb.
• Opened the T-IF pcb & found burnt mark at the back side of pcb, installed new T-IF pcb 05P0861, Now self test result shows ok, tuning at all bands is good.
• Measured the TX power at all the bands found satisfactorily, TX power: 220 W, reflection power: 0 W
• RT-communication from 5-10 NM vessel isn’t good, AM radio also cannot receive the local channels, reception is poor.
• Upgraded the T-CPU software to latest ver. 2.02, No AM reception & weak RT communication.
• DSC testing ok, received acknowledgement from Cyprus coast station(002371000)
• Installed new Batt monitor PCB 05P0607 B supplied by furuno JP, Now battery monitor display doesn’t show low batt. Alarm, works normal

**MF/HF radio repair is completed.
**Recommended to replace the MF/HF antenna because reception is poor, No AM reception.
