Watch to find out how the 'Let’s Talk Real Skills (LTRS)' project bringing businesses and education together within the Leeds City Region to improve skills provision in the construction industry.

One of the training programmes to result from this project is the Level 1 Site Operative Training course. This film, presented by Leeds Rhinos Coach Jamie Jones-Buchanan showcases how the partnership between the construction industry and educators created this much-needed, new qualification in September 2021.

The training was made possible by the collaboration between Wakefield College, Forging Futures Campus, iConsult, DJH Consult, CEG, Kirkstall Forge and Sirius, and was co-ordinated by the West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges.

How did the training come about?

WYCC formed a 'Collaborative Skills Partnership' (CSP) to find out what training is currently available and what the common skills gaps are in the construction industry. This important partnership explores and develops new training provision for businesses by using funding from the project.

How do I get involved?

New Site Operative courses will begin in 2022.
