I highly recommend skipping the Spiderman grip and just pinching it between your thumb and pinky from the start. Much cleaner and eliminates the unnecessary awkward transfer to your thumb

I don't know what it's called, but I learned to use my index and pinky finger to hold the cards, and then rotate/flip the card with my thumb. I did it for hours, flipping and catching them.
Honestly I haven't thought much about cards in a long time, but this looks like something I should learn. Thanks for the inspiration!
