I was not allowed to trick-or-treat because my parents thought it was satanic. But don't worry, they're no longer fundamentalist Christians and I celebrate Halloween which is tied with Christmas as my favorite holiday.

Ignoring that the origins of Samhain and the celebration of Halloween have nothing to do with Satanism, shouldn't Christianity's worship of someone who was born by magic and came back to life after death make him a bit more open to kids dressing like witches and zombies?

Yesterday a homeschooled kid shot his dad to death and then went to a school and shot a few more people. Christians, pay attention, if you don't let your kids blow off steam thru something as innocuous as a halloween party, the pressure may build to the point where he blows a gasket like that other kid. I'm a Christian and I love Halloween. My church family don't have a issue with it either. I also let my kids read Twilight and Harry Potter. They are too young still for haunted houses, but one day! You give fear and Satan too much power when you put him in every aspect of your life. I think intent has a lot to do with it. If you aren't celebrating something with any intention in your heart or mind to glorify Satan, then it's not about Satan. Nothing has power over your life until you give it to them. Even God can't come in unless you give him that access.

David Pakman I couldn't agree more. I work with a woman who doesn't celebrate any holidays snd she is bringing her children up that way. I feel sorry for those children but I cannot butt into her business.

Halloween, Hallowe'en or, "All Hallows’ Evening" is a night of "devil's worship" (according to the stupid religious).

So, let's review all the "toys" of the "Devil's Night":

Owls (usually Great Horned Owls)
Bats (Darker, the better)
Cats (usually black)
Pumpkins
Haystacks
Witches
Skeletons
Trees that have most of their leaves fallen (more commonly, Oaks) -- they have to house the Owls and allow the Cats to climb on and Witches to hide in (hollow trunks).

Yeah, all that MUST BE the work of the Devil.

I went to church Halloween parties when I was little. We dressed up in costumes, bobbed for apples and played pin the tail on the donkey. We won prizes of candy. But I doubt such mild fun would appeal to teenangers.

I'm from Jamaica where Halloween is not a thing. I'm living in Canada now and my mom was like, do whatever the hell you want as long as you bring me back some Mars bars. My aunt however, living in Florida would never let her kids do anything for Halloween, and a few of my coworkers from Jamaica have banned their kids as well. It's just so weird, but trying to reason with them just gets accusations of being a godless heathen.

Halloween is an actual pagan holiday David. It is observed for spiritual purposes for certain pagan devotees. Christians should not be a part of this holiday in any dressing up or anything that may appear "innocent". It is still what it is. Nothing changes that.
