I don't think I'm asking all that much really.

An unmarked cop as a truancy officer has got to be the worst idea I’ve ever heard of. “Hey go act like a kidnapper until the last second when you pull out your badge. Trust me it’s fine”

The fact that they want to settle quietly is a big red flag.

Doing that in plain clothes is a great way to catch lead poisoning. Good on you for just using hand power.

“…a rather one-sided conversation…”

Ah yes, a true gentleman of class and discipline.

Not only is he a dad, hes a blacksmith who can crush apples in his hands and bite chunks out of wood. The guy is lucky.

That little scratch across the knuckles is the crowning glory on this little tale. It's so subtle yet screams volumes 😂

Fair and Reasonable response, both in the moment, and in response to their pleas.

Keep in mind, his kids are also HOMESCHOOLED!!!
Truency officer had no right to lay hands on those kids to begin with. And dad was 100% in his rights when he thought someone was attempting to kidnap his kids.

Wow. You didn't kill him. I'm really impressed by your level of self discipline.

“A rather one sided conversation” paired with the display of your fist was perfect „show, dont tell” and reasonable response to this quite insane situation

That truancy officer is lucky he didn't get shot for kidnapping.

My daughter is homeschooled the rest of the year due to medical reasons. She was having a good day and wanted to go to the library literally across the street. About a 30 second walk. Well a truancy officer went in to look who was there. Didn't recognize her, waited until she left the library for home to approach her and scared the crap out of her. She thought a creep was after her and ran back into the library. Staff let her behind thier counter and called me. He was in plain clothes and had the nerve to try and lecture me and her about "goofing off during school hours." Head librarian asked why he didn't ask staff about her as he knows they have a list of homeschool and virtual learning students. I think the librarian was more outraged he waited until she was our of the library.

That officer probably shouldve asked those kids where their parents were first. But stupid is as stupid does.

A long time ago, in a town far, far away a truancy officer tried to abduct a friend of mine. Thing is, my friend had graduated the prior year. My friend's dad was an army cryptographer. He was less than thrilled and to say he works with scary people is a bit of an understatement. Calls were made and pants were shat.

Superbly handled. What self-respecting father would do it any differently.

What good reason is there to settle quietly?
They're already lucky things went so well for them; lots of people aren't so patient with kidnappers.

This reminds me of when my neighbor and I were riding our quads in the woods near our houses. A guy comes running thru the woods and I see a gun in his hand we both take off on our quads and around the corner is a police officer in uniform with his shotgun pointed at me ( I’m 15 my neighbor was 13 at the time) the guy running at us with a gun drawn was another officer wearing all black in the middle of the damn woods.

Needless to say niether of them got their pensions.
