Certified Piano Tech here. Pianos are not actually tuned to the exact scientific frequency of each note. They are actually tuned slightly off on purpose, because that actually sounds better than the scientific, hertz based values to the human ear. So it's very possible that's the reason why it didn't sense the note.

Hypothesis: IF you often play aggressively, THEN your piano will lose its proper tuning more quickly BECAUSE the heavy and repetitive impact of the hammers on the strings cause vibrations so intense that the tuning lugs loosen at a higher rate thus resulting in each note becoming flatter over time.
