My dad makes something almost exactly like this since forever, but with lil bit of mayo instead of cream cheese and with hard boiled egg. Oh, and we don't use blender but just a fork, it's more chunky and DELISH on toast. Truly taste of childhood ;)

Here is the States, we would use smoked white fish also known as "chubs." Usually these are fish from the Great Lakes.

Hehe awesome stuff. I make it basically the same at work except I use creme fraiche instead for a bit of a lighter texture and I use dill and chervil also. Do you think szchechuan pepper would work with the mackerel?

little tip: cut your lemon in half and, before squeezing it, poke it with a fork, that way the juice won't splash everywhere ;)
