Happens in most movie series/sequels. Unless you film them back-to-back/all at once, _a-la_ Lord of the Rings, you get different props, different make-up artists, older/changed actors (eg Mark Hamill's car accident), etc.

I‘m pretty sure the hilt in the thumbnail is from Attack of the Clones. Not the one seen from Revenge of the Sith onwards.

I like to think that the Skywalker Lightsaber hilt gets modified over the course of time, depending on the distinct styles and needs of each of its respective wielders.

I dunno, maybe that’s just me though.

The sound also changes for Anakins lightsaber per movie.

A new hope everyone has the same sound it's the classic lightsaber sound.

Empire strikes back they tried to make it sound sharper.

Revenge of the sith brought it back to the Orginal sound from a new hope.

Force Awakens had more bass and it sounded like a Battlefront lightsaber.

Last Jedi combined empires sound with force awakens sound, it had a bass sharp sound.

The new one, repaired and with the leather strap, looks cool. I thought how they'd pull it off. Makes sense.

But you can easily make an explanation for changes, such as Stormtrooper armor being constant upgraded throughout the rebellion era, and Luke being a techie so he modified his dad’s lazer sword, then who ever found it after bespin fixed it because it was probably damaged in the fall, etc.

See, easy head canon fixes. Look at ESB, they made Luke get mauled by a yeti just to explain his facial changes after mark’s accident. Just say a space yeti did it.

I love the idea of it changing. It's as if the lightsaber is actually an old weapon that is slowly wearing down and requiring repairs to be made to it. The weapon is decades old, it's not going to look the same from start to finish.
