I've taken a trip to Rock today which is just the opposite side of Padstow in Cornwall. Rock is famous for being quite affluent but it also houses the Mariners which is owned by a fantastic chef called Paul Ainsworth. Let's give this one a go!

I've been waiting for the '10' as I promised myself I would post a comment.

Gary, your channel should not work. Some random middle-aged, middle-class English chap going to random restaurants and talking, with no fanfare, about dishes, service, ambience, price, all the while covered by an extremely illusive Cameraman. No crazy thumbnails, no obvious pattern of restaurant choice, no focus on the obvious targets. Your channel should not work.

I have a sheet on my wall next to my desk, that counts your subscribers since January 1st this year (at that time fractionally over 40k and I had been hooked for some time). You've just doubled it in less than five months. That's unheard of.

Honesty. No Frills. Simple. Concise. Believable. Trustworthy. Erudite. REAL.

Gary, your channel should not work. But it's fast becoming the best channel on YouTube.

Please please please don't ever change! And thank you.

I took part in The Mariners renovation, and the company I worked for did the electrical work. Paul came and personally thanked all of the workers for the renovation, and cooked for us as well. Food was top quality as you'd expect! He even stopped for 5/10 minutes to talk with me while I was out in the plant room working. He's one of the nicest guys I've met, also a very down to earth guy doing well for himself. I highly recommend a visit to his restaurants!

Not sure what will be more joyful, seeing Gary eat at another seafood restaurant or seeing him pass 100k YouTube subs and get his plaque. Which he richly deserves.

Whenever I’ve seen Paul Ainsworth on the TV he always comes across as a really humble and nice guy who treats his staff really well too. Not the attitude or ego of some other “celebrity” chefs. Food looks absolutely delicious 👍👍

I am going to put things into perspective. Gary, that cost 10 quid more than that Padstow garbage. All I can say is WOW.. I could taste every mouthful of that meal. I would have gone 10*. I hope your faith in Cornwall has been restored. Fantastic

My wife used to frequent Marriner's when it was a dive in the 90's, way before it was taken over & renovated. We went there for lunch last year to reminisce, it was just wow, so good. We're back at the end of this month & can't wait to return.

(75) Wow. A "destination/celebration" restaurant. The type of place you put aside a money jar for so you are prepared for the bill. Place looked just BEAUTIFUL; thank you Gary for letting us tag along for another "dream feast" of a meal.

Quite possibly the best food reviewer on the platform. Consistent in depth reviews, perfect mannerism and an abundance of decorum whilst trying the food etiquette definitely doesn’t lack with Gary. Keep up the good work and you’ve got a loyal subscriber here always happy to help wether it be with views and like or anything else. Top quality stuff Gary!

I would happily pay that price for quality food and that view!.. Quality ingredients, excellent cooking and nothing overstated. Let the food and the chef do the talking!!!....I would certainly be booking a return visit!

As a Cornishman and an ex fisherman of a certain age, I can remember people freaking out when they had to start paying fifty pence for a fresh scallop! 'Ten Shillings!!!' the screamed.🤣 Shoulder of lamb is the best joint for me, absolutely love it. All looked good, and glad to see local mussels finally getting on the menu. They could've been way back, but there's a story behind that for another time. Good vlog mate and thanks.

Paul Ainsworth is one of my fave celebrity chefs... I've not met him or been to his restaurants, but he comes across as a really decent, friendly and honest chap on tele!! Looks like a great meal too. I'd love to go here one day. Keep it up, Gary :) Cheers!
