I have lived in a house where there was a graveyard centuries ago and yes I can relate to this person. Me and my cousin who were quite small and parents were not home have experienced the similar kind of black mass. A human kind of dark big tall figure. It was the scariest thing. We tried with all our force to keep the door closed so it couldn't come inside the room, that thing was way more powerful and we were no match to it. I can never forget that but of course when parents came home home they didn't believe it.

These spirits (and other beings worshipped instead of God) are called the Jinn (Djinn), a non-visible entity mentioned in the Qur'an (the Holy book of Muslims):

"O Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you as he caused your (first) parents to go forth from the Garden and tore off from them their robe (of innocence) that he might manifest their shame to them. Lo! he seeth you, he and his tribe, from whence ye see him not. Lo! We have made the devils protecting friends for those who believe not."

The Qur'an Chapter 7 Verse 27

They where created, just as the human race was, for the SOLE purpose of worshipping the Almighty God, the Creator of every thing:

"I (Allaah) created the jinn and humankind only that they might worship Me.

I seek no livelihood from them, nor do I ask that they should feed Me."

The Qur'an Chapter 51 Verses 56, 57

These Jinns are just like us as well in terms of being good and evil:

"And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules."
The Qur'an Chapter 72 Verse 11

But many nations have, knowingly or not, worshipped them instead:

"They (the angels) will say: Be Thou (O Allaah) Glorified. Thou (alone) art our Guardian, not them! Nay, but they (i.e. mankind) worshipped the jinn; most of them were believers in them."
The Qur'an Chapter 34 Verse 41


And many people are seeking to appease them to calm their anger or mischief by worshipping them and giving them offerings or calling upon them as a recourse, but in vain:

And indeed (O Muhammad) individuals of humankind used to invoke the protection of individuals of the jinn, so that they increased them in burden;
The Qur'an Chapter 72 Verse 6

Satan is of the Jinn folk, or the father of all jinn:

"And (remember) when We said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam, and they fell prostrate, all save Iblis (I.e. Satan) he was of the jinn, so he rebelled against his Lord's command. Will ye choose him and his seed for your protecting friends instead of Me, when they are an enemy unto you? Calamitous is the exchange for evil-doers."
The Qur'an Chapter 18 Verse 50

He's a sworn enemy to the children of Adam because of this, and his main wish is for us to be at loss in this life, and the hereafter, and when he was cast out of the assembly of the angels because of his pride, jealousy and disobedience:

"He said: Seest Thou this (creature) whom Thou hast honoured above me, if Thou give me grace until the Day of Resurrection I verily will seize his seed, save but a few."
The Qur'an Chapter 17 Verse 62


So, if you want to be free from their influence worship the One Who created you and them as you should instead, remembering that in doing this, you are actually disobeying Satan and all demons.

"And verily We have raised in every nation a messenger, (proclaiming): Serve Allaah and shun false gods. Then some of them (there were) whom Allaah guided, and some of them (there were) upon whom error had just hold. Do but travel in the land and see the nature of the consequence for the deniers!"
