Its a Greek word named after the Greek god. French had it wrong from the begining but French made the branding so cheers

It’s the latin Alphabet. We are reading and speaking it in English. The word you spelt is pronounced Her-Mays. It’s your failure to spell not ours to pronounce. Have a nice day.
