Set up Zigbee in Home Assistant - Using ZHA to ditch your 3rd party hubs

Показать описание
You can connect Zigbee sensors, lights and other devices directly to Home Assistant without having to use each companys proprietary hubs. This unlocks a wide variety of automations by mixing and matching different Zigbee sensors and equipment. You also get more privacy as information about your smart home isn't being sent to a companies cloud servers meaning no-one can track you.

All you need to get started is a USB Zigbee Dongle and this video!

Of the dozens of youtube videos I have watched on getting started with Home Assistant, this is by far the most straight forward, direct and easy to ingest tutorial available. Thank you.

I've dabbled in home automation for 25 years and recently started with Home Assistant in a test platform for now. This was a very useful (and simple) explanation of how to make the zigbee gear work with HA.

Very clear explanation.
Note: With these sensors like the Sonoff, you need to open up the back and pull the plastic tab to connect the battery.

Thanks for this. I'm pretty new to HA and your video had my roller blind controller working within a couple of minutes.

I am impressed how fast the lamp reacts when the window contact triggers. Thanks for the video, was very very helpful :)

Thanks!!! This was realy a good explanation. I've been using Homey for some years but feels I like to take it to next level so HA is the new playground for now.

Can you plug zigbee into a wall outlet that can take usb? Then use home assistant from your phone? Or would it have to be a smart plug?

Plz guide which one should I buy Sonoff zigbee bridge pro 3.0 or SONOFF ZB Dongle-P Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus Wireless Zigbee Gateway Analyzer Zigbee2MQTT USB Interface Capture with Antenna
I don't know how to flash any software. I need something that doesn't require any flashing. So that I can directly use it to add zigbee devices and use it with homeassistant.

Kindly reply.

i’m planning to use an 20 meters usb extension like in the thumbnail so I suppose it’s going to work! But another question, Can I use 2 dongles? 1 for the first floor and the other I’m going to wire it to the 2nd floor. it will use up the 2 usb 2.0 port on the Pi 4.

Very good. Now we need to write a program to turn on the light when the door is open and then turn it off when the person closes the door and leaves the room. This would be useful in the case of someone coming in the front door and closing the door afterward. The light would stay on while they were in the room and then turn off a few minutes after they leave the room. I'm new to home automation, but I assume this can be done with Home Assistant.

Hi! What would you suggest to integrate BLE devices onto HA in the same fashion as Zigbee ones you just showed? Thank you!

what is the range on that usb ? like if my raspberry or zigma is on the ground floor and the smart swith is on the 3rd floor, how will it work ?
i will also have 2 networks, one normal wifi with internet connection and one network just for these smart devices in the home so they do not access the internet for security purposes.

so the question again is that how the pairing process works for devies that are far ?

I have a couple Hue bulbs that are white only. Through HA I can control brightness but can't seem to access the effects, like candle. They're connected through ZHA using a Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 dongle. Any idea why that may be or if there's a setting I could change to get the effects to work? Thanks!
