The only thing I can even pretend to complain about is that the first instance of the chorus feels so much more dramatic than the only lyrical part from the original song. Something about screaming out to a person who's died

Is just so fucking heart rending. It perfectly gets the idea across that Herself was the purpose of everything he did, and he's like a dead man walking without her. And as a bonus, it seems to be literally true. In the game, the funk rating seems to be coming from GF herself, so if she's the judge of if BF/Yourself's notes hit, then her 'praise' is what keeps him from dying in his conquest of funk. And then, the next line being borderline suicidal doesn't help.
