String Skipping Guitar Lesson - Pentatonic & Diatonic

A second benefit from practicing string skipping is that you learn the fretboard better, because you are no longer relying on old, memorized muscle memory patterns.

In this video, I don't teach any scales or patterns. That's for YOU to figure out. This video is for intermediate players who already know the pentatonics and major/minor scales, and who are ready to explore a different way to come up with lines, licks and ideas - exploring the concept of "String Skipping".

Naturally, you wouldn't use ONLY string skipping. That should be obvious. No, the idea is that you use it SOMETIMES, to complement what you are already doing. Hope that makes sense and let me know if you have any questions.

When you are ready to learn with me:
I teach music theory, blues, rock, funk, country, scales, chord, triads... and much more.

My website lessons come with Soundslice, which makes it incredibly easy to learn. Both tab and video are synced together in one view on the screen.

Great way to break out of a rut. Reminds me of Eric Johnson's style.

This is very inspirational for me. A great step towards my attempts at jazz.question?: I have used a Boss compressor (Blue) and a Boss fuzz box (Orange If I remember correctly.) but there was a lot of hum and buzz from the combination. Your gear actually gives that horn attack with lots of sustain that Is great for speed and expression. What external gear are you using here .Sandy
