Most of my equipment damage happens in the same way that you almost lost your scope. The actual test or experiment seems to be the safe part. With electricity or high-kinetics, I try to turn the "cat-like reflexes" *off* any time the bench *could* become hot. Controlled and planned movements or none at all -- let it fall if something's bumped and stay in the safe spot. Somewhere along the line I heard "no situation is so bad that you can't make it worse". I've tried though... :)

11:58 I2t is not energy. You have to mlutiply by the resistance of the fuse to get energy required to blow the fuse, and that resistance will change as it heats up.

Interesting to see, I didn't really notice the difference until now, propably because I never really work with such high power levels.

And answering your question, yes I did, propably more often than I want to admit.
Once I literally blew up a cheap multimeter by measuring a capacitor bank, there was little to nothing left of the poor thing.
Another time I made my serial adapter go up in smoke due to a ground loop.
And the worst thing was a 4GHz Amplifier module that decided to die on me, however I think this wasn't really my fault.
