The loose aggressive poker player, or the poker maniac, can be a tough player type to come up against for even an experienced poker player.

Loose aggressive poker maniacs like to put you into uncomfortable situations (big poker pots) with marginal hands because, if you aren’t adjusting your poker strategy, a lot of people make mistakes when uncomfortable.

You need to figure out which type of aggressive poker maniac they are to make some of the more intricate exploits, but if a maniac is going to play aggressively throughout the hand you can make one simple adjustment to your poker strategy that will make them easier to play against.

Tighten up pre-flop and fold more marginal hands on the flop to set yourself up with a range of poker hands that can more easily handle the aggressive poker strategy coming at you.

Even maniacs run hot or get lucky over a sample but many of these players know their image and that people are waiting for a spot against them. These guys can find folds when it looks like you want to get the money in.

Others lack table-awareness and will pay you off over and over.

change seats. if they are on your left, easiest way to negate their aggression is switch to their left side. doesn't have to be directly on their left, can be a seat or two down. it solves 90% of the problem.

when I get to see showdown for a player like this and see theyre a _true_ maniac, yeah I tighten up a bit, that’s important. but the real money comes from being ok to call it all off with second pair. And reloading and being fine the 30% of the time they actually beat you.
