I'm a retired neurologist and faculty at my state University. I think this is an superb video at several levels. First, I really like that you begin with some thoughts on "know what you are getting into". With most jobs and most careers, there is the theory of what a job/career is, and there is the reality of what a job/career is. And, they can be be very different. Traditional (bricks and mortar schools) education is far too expensive these days to wander aimlessly through it hoping you will figure out what you want to do. The prepared student has done some "homework" to get some real-world idea what a career or job might really be like. So, you start off with this idea. Excellent! Then, in the rest of just 12 minutes, you lay out the path and preparation needed to actually get a job in data science. Excellent again. In this era we need many, many more videos like this - laying out a real-world picture of a career path within a few minutes. I could say much more but this isn't the place. So, THANK YOU! - not for me, but for young people everywhere who might want to follow this path.

In addition to learning R, Python, and SQL, if you have time to learn a 4th language I recommend SAS.

Ten years I wasn't sure it would still be popular by 2023, but a lot of companies (especially in the pharmaceutical, insurance, government fields + academia) still use SAS.

I'll add when learning data science or statistics (aren't they the same thing?) make sure you know the difference between causal inference and predictive modeling (ie, machine learning).

Both types of model may use linear regression, but outcomes of interest, evaluating model results, and variable selection can be very different.

It's funny how I got here. I am not looking for a job, I am just fascinated by so much information we have around us, easily available yet we don't know how to process them in a useful manner.
