The problem I have is everyone's avatars are completely different unless I open my menu, click on them, and change it from the shield to the eye.

sadly no, I can't even see the fallback avatars people are using and I'm streaming Steam through my Quest 2 headset! Everyone appears as these transparent diamonds. One guy I clicked on and set him as trusted so I could see his avatar, was just playing the low poly hotdog guy fallback avatar!

is this how you fix avatars disappearing if you go too close to them???
for example, if i get too close to a person, there avatar will just disappearing, but their name will still be there.

That could help but crasher is tricky to block the avatar that crash vr

You also have to manually enable all avatars too which is annoying
