My nutrient solution's EC or pH doesn't move BUT as soon as I stick a plant in it instantly begins to go up. No root rot but within a day the pH can shoot up to 2 pts higher. How do I stop this in a Kratky as it will nutrient lock my tomato plants for sure then they will all perish?

I have a question do naturally have cation and anion or do the plants automatically produce them?

Thanks. Very informative. What do you think of using RO water in hydroponics?

Really appreciate you going through this information and putting it out there for everyone to think about. I'm growing in a tower garden as well as DWC and have to keep my PH around 5.8, and this helps wrap my head around some of the signs i see.

Anyone using city water and that stuff won't stop rising, I think if you let it sit for a week might help. I'm still working on it myself. Mine come from tap at 8, 0 pH, I will make it 5.5pH, then it will go back to 8.0pH, I think letting it sit for a week is helping, mine is outside also.

Am I missing something? You're not the first person i've heard say something like this "the reservoir system is going to get more acidic, or an increase in PH." ... but acidic is a lower PH? ... right? i mean less ph is acidic and more ph is base?

No offense man, you fundamentally describe pH incorrectly. pH down is acidic. pH up is basic. Your visual is even wrong. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
