Dan Green sounds perfect as Yugi here. In the original series, I felt that his voice for Yugi was a little too high-pitched. In the first season, he sounded just fine, but becomes more high-pitched as the show went on. I'm guessing it was to differentiate between Yugi and Atem, but I can't help but wonder if there was a more subtle way of changing voices. That said, he sounds much better in this clip. It really shows how much Yugi has grown in the time since the end of the show (well, that and the obvious growth spurt). Also, I hope this movie brings Atem back. That would make things even better!

Holy shit! Yugi sounds So. God. Damn. Cool! He has a more a mature and youthful tone now. Dan Green makes him sound like a totally new guy all the old cast sounds great! This is how a Yugi movie should have been. Seeing this makes me hope that all the previous series will get a movie of their own.

I love how they actually put in the card text in this movie. keeps the authenticity and in line with the JP version. Good stuff.

For anyone surprised at why Yūgi would gloss over why the box means so much to him, it’s not only odd to tell that to some rando who is highly unlikely to understand, but it’s also a bittersweet memory and thus raises very complex and mixed feelings for him. He didn’t expect her to know what it actually was, and since he’s a famous Duelist, there’s no reason to assume she wouldn’t believe him if he stated that the box was special because it housed his deck. The plot just demanded otherwise 😂
