MINI Cooper S VS Golf GTI

In this video we have set up a drag race between two of the best performing hot hatches on the market. The 2015 Mini Cooper S F56 takes it up against the Volkswagen Golf GTI from 2014. The Golf GTI has 28 more BHP but is 158 KGS heavier than the Mini Cooper S. Which one will win the battle and how big will the difference be? Watch the video!

People are so dumb GTI doesn’t need another driver 1. The gti weighs more than the mini and 2. Minis are never at 192 horsepower from factory bmw engines are always higher with some getting 213bhp on dyno tests.

I don’t know what BMW do to those engines, but I own one & they’re quicker than what’s on paper.

It's not just power or power to weigth, I believe the mini makes better use of it because of the gearbox and electronics. Look at run #2 and see how the GTI slips when launching (see the smoke and tire spinning) and the Cooper does a perfect launch. Now look at 1:11 and the crossing the line, most of the difference was at launch. I own a GTI and it struggles putting down the power when launching. BTW the GTI also does a little more power that declared (tons of dyno runs out there if you google it).

I raced a Mini S in my 97' Eclipse Spyder. Surprisingly, i lost. I was butthurt. 5 years later i purchased a 2010 Mini Cooper S 6 speed and now i realize why i lost. Off the line the Cooper is hands down a superior and faster car off the line. Its a BEAST on the 1/4 mile !!

I test drove both. I baught the Mini Cooper S. My but dyno told me it was allot quicker. This proves it. Great vid!

The weight to power ratio wins that GTI is 200kg heavier than the Mini Cooper s. So I’m not surprise that the mini won plus it’s a more premium car and I genuinely think that is cooler. You see tons of golfs but not that many minis cooper s.

Doesn't really surprise me GTIs are infamous for not being able to launch. Still would take the GTI tho obviously since I own 2 of them. You can do so much more with them and the aftermarket is massive.

F56 2015 is very quick in sport mode has blown a few other hot hatches and cruisers out the water.. stock exhaust sounds so good made the right choice over GTI and Fiest ST. ST is similar puts a huge smile on your face

Mini coopers are geared amazing too. They are in reliable but designed well in performance.

Ive owned both and would take a GTI over Mini any day. The difference in speed is minimal compared to the difference in price when something breaks. I thought VWs were expensive to work on but the bill from a Mini dealer makes VW look like a non profit charity. .
