I think minecraft is a game, and I'm sure Jules would agree. When we talk about the minimum parts that make up a game, we aren't necessarily talking about the *maximum* parts - it's possible to have an application that is contains a subsystem comprised of our minimum parts. World of Warcraft contains many game sub-systems. So does minecraft. But there are certainly elements beyond these.

Minecraft = Game
Minimum requirements: 1 player = any minecraftian, 1 challenge = build some amazing thing or not dying or repetitively bash chickens until you stop laughing, 1 display = the monitor, 1 controller = keyboard or mouse (take your pick)
Plus, it starts, progresses, and ends(either by death, or by boredom, starvation, etc). My definition in the video is actually very minimalist. Technically, by it QuickBooks could be considered a game. Minecraft is awesome. Especially the chickens.:)
