A alternative on what happened to the dog: Max didn't just get eliminated by the fungus because it thought Max isn't a viable host. Perhaps Max never got better, and the barking was just the dog version of a human's manic laughter, and he had been infected way back after when the guy first inhaled the spores

I like the idea of some aliens coming to Earth to get rid of the spores like "yeah sorry about that, Frank accidentally left some of the fungus we were searching on a meteor"

Edit: how did a stupid joke manage to be the most liked comment in here, htf-

If it was indeed aliens, then it seems this is the first ARG/video series featuring benevolent aliens that probably realized they fucked up and needed to clean the mess.

I absolutely love the smile tapes. I started watching them in rehab and I'm so surprised the staff let us watch it because they had horrified looks on their faces.

The most unrealistic part of this is that the people doing to autopsies on the patients who have a deadly fungal disease didn't wear some kind of hazmat suit or anti-particulate mask.

The one thing I love about the smile tapes is that the "him" was an actual picture that was used in flyers and I think it said something like "have you seen this man in your dreams " and it was all around the city of Portland Oregon and I love how patorikku puts some real life things into his story

I have the same issue with this series as I do with the Mandela Catalogue...
Whenever I see these distorted faces all I see is Jerma.

I approve of Toad being in frame when talking about a fungus based disease.

Aliens really said "my bad OG lemme clean that shit up for you real quick"

11:49 I have heard of this face before. I believe it was called This Man. You can find posters of him. He's an optical illusion, where he looks close enough to a real person, while having the most amount of identifiable features. Depending on what parts of his face you cover, he loos like a different person.

What makes this arg series hit harder than most is the fact that my mom and her family lived in Tijuana until she was 13 and immigrated around 2000. If this actually happened, my family would've more than likely died in the most horrific ways possible. Thank you Smile Tapes for making up the most horrible hypothetical way I could have not existed!

NGL i wouldve prefered it if the spores weren't a purposefully invasive alien species or whatever and just. A freak accident of evolution or a mistake in a lab and this whole thing was just a horrible accident. I do like this series and I think Shaun's logs were wonderfully written, just one personal issue I have with the series.

This reminds me a lot of the "Crossed" series. An infection that makes people murder and overall destroy things while affecting the physical appearance of the infected. Gotta say this is a lot better than the "Crossed" series.

I really believe that the classic way of horror storytelling is slowly dying off. It's been a while since I've seen people exited for horror movies or discussing them for different reasons than "it's so bad you have to see it". Yet analog horror and ARGs are doing better by the day. I don't think companies will stop making crappy horror movies, or that King will stop writing his books any time soon, I just think people in general are losing interest.

I really wish that Analog horrors had subtitles, it truly is hard to understand what the hell some people are saying.

Finally.
An analog horror series with a positive ending.

You can think two things about this series.
"Woah, a deadly vírus that is created by a fungus starts to dominate the world and causes a nationwide pandemic because of the sadistic, smiling killers"
Or
"SAN DIEGO FUCKING *_SUCKS-"_*

I like how he talks about this fungal infection with a Toad plushie behind him.

17:10 It’s actually a number-to-letter cypher. Basically there are 26 letters in the English alphabet. 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D, 5=E, etc… When deciphered correctly it goes along the lines of “TRANSPORT WITHIN A WEEK” and “MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY”.
