Weaver fish / The most dangerous fish in Adriatic

Its Weaver fish aka Trachinus draco.This fish is often ccaled the most venomous in the Adriatic because it has venomous stabs on the back and on the sides of its body.The venom causes great pain.

These fish taste _awesome_ fried with a bit of butter and salt, can't recommend it enough to anyone who happens to have these fish in their waters. As a spearfisher, I've caught countless of them, even taken a few with my knife - they like to bury in the sand so they can be damn near impossible to spot, but just like with flatfish, you kind of "tune in" on what to look for after some time, usually the eyes will be sticking out, and the shape of the indentation in the sand will tell you if it is a flatfish buried, or one of these. The indentations they make look like a sort of "slash" in the sand. I've gotten stung several times, never while I was out in the soup though, it always happens when I clean them, and it's usually the last spike in the first dorsal fin that gets me - unlike the five other spikes in the fin, the last one lies in a furrow along the back of the fish, and it's easy to overlook when you clean it. They also have a spike on each gill plate, but they aren't as pointy as the ones in the first dorsal fin. And yes, the pain can be quite severe.

I have been stung by a great weever in my left and right hand by the same fish, and i can tell you that's not funny at all. I caught it with on my fishing rod, but i didn't know what it was. It is a few weeks ago now, but i am still recovering. If you are stung by one, go to a doctor, but first put where you are stung under hot water (so hot if you can manage). it nutralises the poison. As i know it is the best remedy. But check it by experts.

I was stinged by one. . didn't knew what fish it was ..1st time fishing in Spain...uhh but the pain..I don't wish it for anyone ...I can't even describe the pain ...
