Producer and composer Adrian Younge breaks down his song "Sirens" from his studio, Linear Labs, in Highland Park, CA.

Sounding like a hip hop track produced in 1969, "Sirens" is a synthesis of soul, psych, and jazz. From the sampler to the symphony, Adrian's journey began with an Akai MPC 2000 and Tascam 8-track Portastudio. Adrian went on to learn piano, bass, drums and didn’t stop there. Not just a multi-instrumentalist Adrian taught himself how to record, too.

What began as making hip-hop beats built around samples of old records, evolved into playing instruments and has stretched to writing and arranging for orchestras. "Sirens" is a perfect blend of Adrian's deep knowledge of hip hop, music composition, and recording skills at work.

Picasso Baby is by far my favorite track on Magna Carta. I remember reading Adrian Younge's name on the credits years ago and was thoroughly impressed. It was amazing to watch him in his element and breakdown his original track!!

When I started making beats years ago your albums were the first ones I started to I’m making my own samples for people to flip.
Just finished my first pack but it’s a little basic cuz I barely know chords and shit but I really went in with the textures of the sounds to create my own style.
Today i Invested in new a keyboard too and I been going HAM since the quarantine started learning chords etc.

I watched the IG LIVE session you had when the quarantine started and it blew me away that when you made those albums you didn’t know anything about music theory and chords etc.. you just went for the feel and trusted your ear.

Once I get a little bit of money I’m definitely getting a guitar and bass.

seeing this video is kind of crazy cuz I was listening to your albums TODAY and I was wondering if there was any footage of the gear or how you made this etc... then boom this video shows up.

I play guitar and I use to do way to much because as you must know guitar players love to over play things but this surely is way lad laid back which I am learning how to do. I like this though because its way different.
