The fact that Melisandre thinks Bran and bloodraven are the champions of the great other should be enough indication that the Faith of R'hlor shouldn't be taken by its word. More likely she interprets most things she doesn't know wrong, and the Others happen to resemble her idea of the great other

Melisandre interprets her dreams to what she thinks they means not as what they are. Bran n Bloodraven are actually working against the Others. There's also a difference of opinions between Melisandre and other Red Priests/Priestesses as to who is the hero of the light or the purpose of their cult

Thats the thing, we assume Bran & Bloodraven serve the old gods but they could be puppets for the Great Other & not even know it. We still don't know what exactly Bloodraven is up to, I don't think he's as benevolent as he seems

The Great Other would be a perfect villain for the Jon Snow Sequel Series, could fix a lot of the GOT Season 8 problems. Or introduce an Mighty Great Army thats from West Of Westeros looking to conquer all of Westeros, leading to Jon going back down south to recruit all Houses to join the fight against the foreign invaders.

Not sticking up for Rh'llor or anything but he certainly checks his texts. Jon Snow literally came back from the dead at Melisandre's entreaty. She was also able to slay Renly with a SHADOW by utilizing Stannis' essence or willingness or whatever you want to call it. I feel like if she wasn't so selfish, cult minded and determined to use magic to install a ruler (which should never be done), Melisandre could have been a powerful ally for good. But ASOIAF is not big on stereotypically "good" characters or motivations, either.

I think there was peace on the wall. When the nights king took up his position and married a walker woman the others saw this as a unification of their people. While the northerners saw it as an abomination. When the king, queen, and their children were slain. The great other and his children took offense. So a new crowned nights king matches on the south. Now that the slow to reporoduce race has become more numorous due to men like craster.

The Great other maybe reside in Heart of Winter or perhaps The God who seducted Bloodstone Emperor for doing his Atrosity in 10.000 year ago. i belive he come with Meteorite who found by Bloodstone Emperor before he overthrow Ametyhs empress.

So perhaps the Old Ones, are just the race of people who were cousins of the Children of the Forest, and since they mastered Warging/Greenseeing, they became gods who could travel amongst the Wierwood network, with the memories of their followers flowing through them, as an "afterlife".

As for the White Walkers, well... I dunno, the Great Other likely isn't the Old Gods of the Children/First Men, BUT they may have some connection (the same magic, but for different purposes)
