Add 2 ice cube with urad daal & grind it it's help to fluffy batter bcoz when we grind mixer got heat so ice help to make batter fluffy like cream

You have mix the batter with your hands which helps fermentation and incorporates air into the batter to make idlis fluffy

Whats the advantage of grinding urad dal separately ? All ingredients can be blended together in a mixie right ?

It will b not soft . I tried it two times. Then I added half cup of sabudaana to urad dal and grinded with all ingredients . And the idli's were so soft and everyone liked in my family.
