This is very helpful. My 11yr old son still gets a bit cranky when we talk to him about or at a Dr appointment and they ask about his diagnosis

This is my favorite video I’ve seen explaining autism in a way that makes sense to kids. My mom is a SPED teacher and had to teach a 2nd grade gen ed class about autism because some of the kids were bullying her kids. Now that im a sped teacher I wanted to find an easy way to explain autism to kids, especially because most ADULTS don’t understand it either! I love this and will definitely be using this analogy. Pencils are boring!

This explains most of my childhood, except for the loud noises like I have always been around loud noises so it’s never really been something that changed in my life but when anything does change my life I have explosive emotions like I have destroyed phones and try to throw away all my possessions on multiple occasions but I’ve never been officially diagnosed with anything, even though I have been classified as learning disabled, but I never got diagnosed with anything and I really need to talk to someone so I can understand why I’m so different than everyone else cause socialization and making friends and daily life skills. Looks easy for everyone that you just get up and do it. I can’t do it it’s a challenge to do simple task, some days and other days I can barely function.

Hello!
I understood everything up until the dry erase marker demonstrarion. That completely threw me off. Can someone explain its purpose to me, please? Is it an analogy for how autistic people "dry out" in social situations? In this context, it wouldnt quite make sense, but its the only thing I could really think of. Thanks!
