In this video I reveal the results of our pole to see which painting viewers thought was achieved with inexpensive paint. This was a very surprising result - I’ve also included a QuickTime video using the inexpensive paint to show how good the paint is and worth looking at.

All the product that went into the making of this video was bought by myself in full and is my honest opinion in the hope that others will benefit from this artistic experiment.

It never ceases to amaze me what knowledgeable artist can do with paint. Thanks for that eye opening lesson on inexpensive paint. I always tell everyone I'm not an artist all I do is waste paint but I sure have fun.

Van Gogh is surprisingly good! I have some spare tubes and pans in a box with others, and they work really well. I never had an issue. Thanks for this video! Cosy and instructive ❤ (extra points for the Norn Irish accent)

Van Gogh is the student grade paint I like. I get it at JOANN Fabric in USA. I have a palette of student grade and a palette of professional.

That was really interesting, thank you. I will definitely be buying some of these paints, I love the translucency you get. The quality of the pigment for the price is amazing and your studio looks really cosy too.😊
One question does the paint go really hard sitting in the pans?
Have a lovely Christmas.

When a person feels compelled to paint the type of paint, along with the serial to paint on, becomes irrelevant. Paintings made with natural ochres, painted in caves on rock walls have lasted thousands of years. OK so we've moved ahead since then but the compulsion is not dependent upon cost. If you can't paint with cheap you will not be able to paint with expensive either.

I'm Dutch, and know how to pronounce Van Gogh. But how to teach without being able to let you hear it? Both 'g' sounds in the word Gogh are the gurgling sound at the back of your throat. The 'h' at the end is neglected.

You make that sound by pressing air through your throut into your mouth whilst you lift the back of your tongue. Even more further back than the K.

Still difficult?
Try making the k sound even more back in the mouth. When that starts to sound differently, press that air through without the usage of your vocal chords.

What a nice way to spent your Christmas. 😂

Success!
